​Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) - 2^nd Quarter 2026

Highlights

1. 1.  EOE consist of enterprises previously operating with an EPZ Certificate as well as enterprises manufacturing goods for exports and holding a registration certificate issued by the ex-Board of Investment. 

2.  Compared to the first quarter of 2026, total employment in EOE decreased by 771 (-2.8%) from 27,428 to 26,657.  Some 945 jobs were lost due to the contraction of workforce in some enterprises and closure of enterprise whilst 174 jobs were created due to expansion in existing enterprises.  Employment of Mauritians decreased by 217 (-1.5%) from 14,357 to 14,140 and that of foreign workers decreased by 554 (-4.2%) from 13,071 to 12,517.

3.  EOE exports during the second quarter of 2026 amounted to R 11,005 million, 18.6% higher compared to the first quarter of 2026 and 1.2% higher compared to the second quarter of 2025. EOE imports during the second quarter of 2026 amounted to R 6,047 million, 15.5% higher than the first quarter of 2026 and 3.9% lower than the second quarter of 2025.
