1. The Quarterly Index of Industrial Production shows the evolution of the volume or real output of the Industrial Sector comprising “Mining and quarrying", “Manufacturing", “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply" and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities".
2. In the third quarter of 2021, the overall index of industrial production expanded by 2.0% compared to the previous quarter and by 9.5% when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020.
3. The performance of the sub-sectors within the industrial sector is as follows:

4. For year ending third quarter 2021, i.e. fourth quarter 2020 to third quarter 2021, real industrial output went up by 5.4%. This is explained by expansions in “Mining and quarrying" (+12.4%) “Manufacturing" (+6.4%) and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities" (+3.9%), partly offset by a contraction of 2.0% in “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply".
