1.       PPI-M, which stood at 127.6 in September 2021, registered an increase of 3.4 points (+2.7%) during the fourth quarter of 2021 to reach 131.0 in December 2021. The monthly increases were as follows: October (+0.6%), November (+1.5%) and December (+0.5%).

 

 

2.        The average PPI-M for the fourth quarter of 2021 stood at 129.9, i.e. an increase of 3.2 points (+2.5%) from 126.7 in the third quarter of 2021. This increase was mainly attributable to higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+2.6%), “Chemicals and chemical products" (+5.8%), “Basic metals" (+14.6%), “Fabricated metal products" (+1.7%), “Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers" (+15.4%), “Furniture" (+1.2%), “Wood and products of wood & cork; articles of straw and plaiting materials/ Paper and paper products" (+3.4%) and “Printing and reproduction of recorded media" (+2.0%). Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020, the average PPI-M for the fourth quarter of 2021 increased by 13.5 points (+11.6%), mainly explained by higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+9.1%), “Chemicals and chemical products" (+20.4%), “Fabricated metal products" (+12.6%), “Furniture" (+12.3%), “Basic metals" (+70.5%), “Printing and reproduction of recorded media" (+23.1%), “Rubber and plastic products" (+17.8%) and “Other products" (+14.3%).
