PRODUCER PRICE INDEX – MANUFACTURING (PPI-M) - 3rd Quarter 2021

1.  PPI-M, which stood at 122.1 in June 2021, registered an increase of 5.5 points (+4.5%) during the third quarter of 2021 to reach 127.6 in September 2021. The monthly changes were as follows: July (+3.1%), August (+0.6%) and September (+0.8%).

 

2. The average PPI-M for the third quarter of 2021 stood at 126.7, i.e. an increase of 6.1 points (+5.1%) from 120.6 in the second quarter of 2021. This increase was mainly attributable to higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+3.7%), “Chemicals and chemical products" (+8.2%), “Furniture" (+7.9%), “Fabricated metal products" (+5.9%), “Wearing apparel" (+9.2%), “Other non-metallic mineral products" (+4.5%), “Basic metals" (+17.4%), “Rubber and plastic products" (+6.6%) and “Printing and reproduction of recorded media" (+6.6%). Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020, the average PPI-M for the third quarter of 2021 increased by 11.2 points (+9.7%), mainly explained by higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+7.2%), “Chemicals and chemical products" (+13.7%), “Fabricated metal products" (+11.0%), “Furniture" (+11.0%), “Basic metals" (+57.4%), “Printing and reproduction of recorded media" (+21.0%), “Rubber and plastic products" (+16.3%) and “Wearing apparel" (+10.4%).
