Wage Rate Index – Third Quarter 2025
Highlights
(Base: fourth quarter 2021=100)
1. The Wage Rate Index increased by 0.8% or 1.0 point to reach 133.1 in third quarter 2025 from 132.1 in second quarter 2025. Compared to third quarter 2024, the index increased by 3.2% or 4.1 points.
2. Main changes registered in the sub-indices from second quarter 2025 to third quarter 2025 are:

3. The Wage Rate Index for the General Government sector, which accounts for around 34% of the total weight of the Wage Rate Index, decreased by 0.7% or 0.8 point from 120.0 in second quarter 2025 to 119.2 in third quarter 2025. Compared to third quarter 2024, an increase of 1.1% or 1.3 points is noted.
4. The index for the public sector, which comprises General Government and public enterprises and accounting for around 46% of the total weight of the Wage Rate Index, increased by 0.1% or 0.1 point from 122.6 in second quarter 2025 to 122.7 in third quarter 2025. Compared to third quarter 2024, the index increased by 2.5% or 3.0 points.
5. The index for the private sector, which accounts for around 54% of the total weight of the Wage Rate Index, increased by 1.5% or 2.1 points from 139.4 in second quarter 2025 to 141.5 in third quarter 2025. Compared to third quarter 2024, it increased by 4.1% or 5.6 points.
