Wage Rate Index - 1st Quarter 2020
(Base: fourth quarter 2016=100)
The wage rate index increased by 1.3% or 1.5 points to reach 115.1 in first quarter 2020, from 113.6 in fourth quarter 2019.
Compared to the first quarter of 2019, the index, which stood at 111.8, increased by 3.0% or 3.3 points.

Quarter 2020 are:
Public administrative and defence; compulsory social security
Human health and social work activities
Agriculture, forestry and fishing

The index for the public sector which comprises general government and public enterprises and accounting for around 46% of the wage rate index, increased by 3.2% or 3.5 points from 110.0 in fourth quarter 2019 to 113.5 in first quarter 2020. Compared to first quarter 2019, it increased by 3.4% or 3.7 points.
index for the private sector which accounts for around 54% of the total weight of the wage rate index decreased by 0.3% or 0.3 point from 116.7 in fourth quarter 2019 to 116.4 in first quarter 2020. Compared to first quarter 2019, it increased by 2.6% or 2.9 points.
