Change in employment from March 2024 to March 2025
1. Employment in large establishments increased by 3,520 from 304,649 (179,402 males and 125,247 females) in March 2024 to 308,169 (181,854 males and 126,315 females) in March 2025.
2. Main changes in employment were registered in the following industry groups:

3. Employment in the General Government Sector increased by 5,671 from 75,382 in March 2024 to 81,053 in March 2025.
4. Employment in large Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) decreased by 2,763 from 32,026 in March 2024 to 29,263 in March 2025.
5. The number of foreign workers increased by 1,559 from 26,598 in March 2024 to 28,157 in March 2025.
Change in average earnings from March 2024 to March 2025
Overall average monthly earnings in large establishments increased by 5.2% from Rs 43,511 to Rs 45,794. Highest increases were registered in: 'Arts, entertainment and recreation' (+18.6%) and 'Water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities' (+11.9%).
Average monthly earnings in large establishments of the EOE sector increased by 9.3% from Rs 30,052 to Rs 32,832.
