Construction Price Index, 4th Quarter 2021
Hig​hlights

1. The Construction Price Index which stood at 115.6 in the third quarter of 2021 increased by 3.4% to reach 119.5 in the fourth quarter of 2021.

2. The sub-indices “Labour” and “Transport” remained unchanged during the fourth quarter.

3. The “Hire of plant” sub-index increased by 4.0%.

4. The increase of 4.6% in the “Materials” sub-index was mainly due to:

        (i) increases in the prices of premixed concrete (1.3%), timber carpentry (2.3%), aluminium openings (3.2%), tiles and granite (9.8%), laminated flooring (2.9%), plumbing (2.4%), sanitary installation (4.7%) and electrical installation (4.0%) in October 2021;

        (ii) increases in the prices of hardcore (remplissage) (2.8%), aggregate (3.0%), block (4.1%), steel bars (0.4%), timber carpentry (4.8%), timber joinery (1.8%), tiles and granite (6.6%), laminated flooring (4.6%) and plumbing (1.9%) in November 2021; and

        (iii) increases in the prices of steel bars (0.8%), tiles and granite (1.2%), laminated flooring (4.1%), plumbing (1.0%) and electrical installation (2.4%) in December 2021.​
