​Construction Price Index - 2nd Quarter 2020


Highlights

 

1.      The Construction Price Index which stood at 104.2 in the first quarter of 2020 increased by 1.1% to reach 105.4 in the second quarter of 2020.

2.      During the second quarter of 2020, increases were noted in the "Hire of plant" (1.2%) and "Materials" (1.4%) sub-indices.

​3.      The increase of 1.2% in the "Hire of plant" sub-index is due to higher rates for the hire of machinery. 

4.      The increase of 1.4% in the "Materials" sub-index were due mainly to increases in the prices of:

  1.            i.   ​timber joinery in May (0.3%);

          ii.  tiles and granite in May (0.3%) and June (1.2%);

         iii. electrical installations in June (1.8%);

         iv. steel bars in June (1.4%);

          v. premixed mortar in June (1.1%);

         vi. sanitary installations in June (0.8%); and

        vii. timber carpentry in June (0.3%).
