Producer Price Index - Agriculture (PPI-A) – 1^st Quarter 2025

1. Monthly index

​Overall index

•     - PPI-A, which was 188.7 in December 2024, increased by 9.4% to reach 206.5 in March 2025. The monthly changes were as follows: January (-1.0%), February (+3.1%) and March (+7.2%).
  
  Sugar cane
     -  The index for the period July 2024 to March 2025 was 292.9 based on the forecasted price of sugar for the crop year 2024-2025. This represents a decrease of 8.1% over the price of sugar for the crop year 2023-2024.

Other crop products

•    -  The index for "Other crop products" which was 156.4 in December 2024, increased by 34.3% to reach 210.0 in March 2025, mainly due to an increase of 70.0% in the prices of fresh vegetables such as tomato (+147.1%), carrot (+379.5%), creepers (+29.4%) and other fresh vegetables (+84.5%).
  
   Animals and animal products
     - The index for the sub-group "Animals and animal products" which was 163.9 in December 2024, decreased by 1.1% to reach 162.1 in March 2025, due to a decrease of 5.3% in the prices of eggs, partly mitigated by an increase of 1.8% in the prices of pigs.

  2. Quarterly index

• ​   -  The overall index for the first quarter of 2025 increased by 3.5% when compared to the previous quarter and decreased by 8.2% when compared to the corresponding quarter.
