1. PPI-M measures changes in the effective prices received by producers of the manufacturing sector for that part of their output sold on the domestic market. It does not cover Export Oriented Enterprises, the products of which are mainly meant for export.

2. PPI-M which stood at 173.8 in March 2026, registered a net increase of 3.3 points (+1.9%) to reach 177.1 in June 2026. On a monthly basis, PPI-M increased by 0.6 point (+0.3%) in April, 2.2 points (+1.3%) in May and by 0.5 point (+0.3%) in June 2026.

3. The average PPI-M for the second quarter of 2026 stood at 176.0, i.e., a net increase of 3.5 points (+2.0%) from 172.5 in the first quarter of 2026. This increase was mainly attributable to higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+2.8%), “Fabricated metal products" (+5.5%), “Chemicals and Chemical Products" (+2.6%), “Machinery and equipment, n.e.c" (+13.2%), “Rubber and plastic products" (+4.8%), “Wood and products of wood & cork; articles of straw and plaiting materials/ Paper and paper products" (+1.6%) and, “Other non-metallic mineral products" (+2.9%), partly offset by decreases in prices of “Printing and reproduction of recorded media" (-8.7%).

Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2025, the average PPI-M for the second quarter of 2026 increased by 12.0 points (+7.3%), mainly explained by higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+6.9%), “Fabricated metal products" (+10.9%), “Chemicals and Chemical Products" (+4.3%), “Wearing apparel" (+5.1%), “Machinery and equipment, n.e.c" (+15.4%), “Other transport equipment" (+18.1%), “Other non-metallic mineral products" (+6.7%), and “Other manufacturing products" (+38.8%), partly offset by lower prices of “Printing and reproduction of recorded media" (-9.3%), “Rubber and plastic products" (-4.3%) and, “Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers" (-9.0%).
