1. PPI-M measures changes in the effective prices received by producers of the manufacturing sector for that part of their output sold on the domestic market. It does not cover Export Oriented Enterprises, the products of which are mainly meant for export.

2. PPI-M which stood at 159.5 in December 2024, registered an increase of 1.7 points (+1.1%) to reach 161.2 in March 2025. On a monthly basis, PPI-M increased by 0.4 point (+0.3%) in January, 0.6 point (+0.4%) in February and 0.7 point (+0.4%) in March 2025.

3. The average PPI-M for the first quarter of 2025 stood at 160.5, i.e., an increase of 1.9 points (+1.2%) from 158.6 in the fourth quarter of 2024. This increase was mainly attributable to higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+1.0%), “Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers" (+29.5%), “Wearing apparel" (+2.5%), “Machinery and equipment, n.e.c" (+7.8%) and, “Other manufacturing products" (+4.4%), partly offset by lower prices of “Other transport equipment" (-4.5%).

4. Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024, the average PPI-M for the first quarter of 2025 increased by 9.2 points (+6.1%), mainly explained by higher prices of “Food products and beverages" (+4.6%), “Wearing apparel" (+12.2%), “Furniture" (+5.0%), “Machinery and equipment, n.e.c" (+31.1%), “Chemicals and chemical products" (+4.4%), “Rubber and plastic products" (+9.5%), “Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers" (+36.6%), “Textiles" (+17.7%) and “Other manufacturing products" (+21.3%).
