Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) - 3rd Quarter 2025
Highlights
1. EOE consist of enterprises previously operating with an EPZ Certificate as well as enterprises manufacturing goods for exports and holding a registration certificate issued by the ex-Board of Investment.
2. Compared to the second quarter of 2025, total employment in EOE decreased by 298 (-1.0%) from 28,732 to 28,434. Some 776 jobs were lost due to the contraction of workforce in some enterprises whilst 478 jobs were created due to expansion in existing enterprises. Employment of Mauritians decreased by 289 (-1.9%) from 15,224 to 14,935 and that of foreign workers decreased by 9 (-0.1%) from 13,508 to 13,499.
3. EOE exports during the third quarter of 2025 amounted to R 10,971 million, 0.8% higher compared to the second quarter of 2025 and 8.0% lower compared to the third quarter of 2024. EOE imports during the third quarter of 2025 amounted to R 5,915 million, 6.2% lower than the second quarter of 2025 and 0.2% lower than the third quarter of 2024.
