​Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) - 3rd Quarter 2022

Highlights

​ 

1.    EOE consist of enterprises previously operating with an EPZ Certificate as well as enterprises manufacturing goods for exports and holding a registration certificate issued by the ex-Board of Investment.

           

2.   Compared to the second quarter of 2022, total employment in EOE increased by 498 (+1.4%) from 35,088 to 35,586.  Some 926 jobs were created due to expansion in existing enterprises whilst 428 jobs were lost due to contraction of workforce in some enterprises. Employment of Mauritians decreased by 480 (-2.4%) from 20,184 to 19,704 and that of foreign workers increased by 978 (+6.6%) from 14,904 to 15,882.

 
3.   EOE exports during the third quarter of 2022 amounted to R 13,579 million, 8.5% higher compared to the second quarter of 2022 and 18.9% higher compared to the third quarter of 2021. EOE imports during the third quarter of 2022 amounted to R 8,789 million, 6.5% higher than the second quarter of 2022 and 31.4% higher than the third quarter of 2021.
