Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) - 2nd Quarter 2025
Highlights
1. EOE consist of enterprises previously operating with an EPZ Certificate as well as enterprises manufacturing goods for exports and holding a registration certificate issued by the ex-Board of Investment.
2. Compared to the first quarter of 2025, total employment in EOE decreased by 1,373 (-4.6%) from 30,105 to 28,732. Some 1,501 jobs were lost due to the contraction of workforce in some enterprises and closure of enterprises whilst 128 jobs were created due to expansion in existing enterprises. Employment of Mauritians decreased by 975 (-6.0%) from 16,199 to 15,224 and that of foreign workers decreased by 398 (-2.9%) from 13,906 to 13,508.
3. EOE exports during the second quarter of 2025 amounted to R 10,881 million, 16.0% higher compared to the first quarter of 2025 and 4.7% lower compared to the second quarter of 2024. EOE imports during the second quarter of 2025 amounted to R 6,309 million, 21.9% higher than the first quarter of 2025 and 2.9% higher than the second quarter of 2024.
