Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) - 1^st Quarter 2026

Highlights

1.  1.  EOE consist of enterprises previously operating with an EPZ Certificate as well as enterprises manufacturing goods for exports and holding a registration certificate issued by the ex-Board of Investment.

    2.  Compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, total employment in EOE decreased by 572 (-2.0%) from 28,224 to 27,652.  Some 801 jobs were lost due to the contraction of workforce in some enterprises and closure of enterprises whilst 229 jobs were created due to expansion in existing enterprises.  Employment of Mauritians decreased by 160 (-1.1%) from 14,738 to 14,578 and that of foreign workers decreased by 412 (-3.1%) from 13,486 to 13,074.

4. ​ 3.  EOE exports during the first quarter of 2026 amounted to R 9,277 million, 14.6% lower compared to the fourth quarter of 2025 and 0.5% higher compared to the first quarter of 2025. EOE imports during the first quarter of 2026 amounted to R 5,236 million, 6.9% lower than the fourth quarter of 2025 and 1.7% higher than the first quarter of 2025.
