Wage Rate Index – Second Quarter 2025
Highlights

1. The Wage Rate Index increased by 0.3% or 0.4 point to reach 132.0 in second quarter 2025 from 131.6 in first quarter 2025. Compared to second quarter 2024, the index increased by 6.7% or 8.3 points.
2. Main changes registered in the sub-indices from first quarter 2025 to second quarter 2025 are:

3. The Wage Rate Index for the General Government sector, which accounts for around 34% of the total weight of the Wage Rate Index, increased by 0.3% or 0.3 point from 119.7 in first quarter 2025 to 120.0 in second quarter 2025. Compared to second quarter 2024, an increase of 4.3% or 4.9 points is noted.
4. The index for the public sector, which comprises General Government and public enterprises and accounting for around 46% of the total weight of the Wage Rate Index, increased by 0.4% or 0.5 point from 122.1 in first quarter 2025 to 122.6 in second quarter 2025. Compared to second quarter 2024, the index increased by 4.7% or 5.5 points.
5. The index for the private sector, which accounts for around 54% of the total weight of the Wage Rate Index, increased by 0.4% or 0.5 point from 138.8 in first quarter 2025 to 139.3 in second quarter 2025. Compared to second quarter 2024, it increased by 7.9% or 10.2 points.
