Change in employment from March 2022 to March 2023
1. Employment in large establishments increased by 2,678 from 300,990 (181,114 males and 119,876 females) in March 2022 to 303,668 (179,709 males and 123,959 females) in March 2023.
2. Main changes in employment were registered in the following industry groups:

3. Employment in the General Government Sector decreased by 143 from 76,081 in March 2022 to 75,938 in March 2023.
4. Employment in large Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) increased by 306 from 34,623 in March 2022 to 34,929 in March 2023.
5. The number of foreign workers increased by 277 from 26,381 in March 2022 to 26,658 in March 2023.
Change in average earnings from March 2022 to March 2023
6. Overall average monthly earnings in large establishments increased by 5.7% from Rs 37,151 to Rs 39,274. Highest increases were registered in: 'Water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities' (+20.6%) and 'Accommodation and food service activities' (+13.5%).
A decrease was noted in 'Information and communication' (-1.7%).
7. Average monthly earnings in large establishments of the EOE sector increased by 16.2% from Rs 21,827 to Rs 25,356.
