Export and Import Price Indices -2nd Quarter 2026

Highlights

(Base Year: 2023 = 100)

Export Price Index (EPI)

1.      EPI rose from 107.5 in the first quarter of 2026 to 110.3 in the second quarter of 2026, representing an increase of 2.6%. That was mainly due to increases in the prices of “Food and live animals" (+2.0%) and, “Miscellaneous manufactured articles" (+2.8%).

2.      Compared to a figure of 103.8 in the corresponding quarter of 2025, the index increased by 6.3% in the second quarter of 2026, mainly due to increases in the prices of “Food and live animals" (+6.1%), “Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material" (+8.1%) and “Miscellaneous manufactured articles" (+6.1%).
 

Import Price Index (IPI)

3.      IPI rose by 20.0% from 101.0 in the first quarter of 2026 to 121.2 in the second quarter of 2026, mainly due to increases in the prices of “Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials" (+59.1%).

4.      Compared to a figure of 96.4 in the corresponding quarter of 2025, the index rose by 25.7% in the second quarter of 2026, mainly due to increases in the prices of “Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials" (+74.4%) and, “Chemical materials and related products, n.e.s" (+11.5%).​


Terms of Trade Index

5.      The terms of trade index, i.e., the ratio of EPI to IPI, decreased by 15.4 points (-14.5%) from 106.4 in the first quarter of 2026 to 91.0 in the second quarter of 2026. Compared to a figure of 107.7 in the corresponding quarter of 2025, the terms of trade index decreased by 16.7 points (-15.5%).
