​African Statistics Day is an annual event, celebrated on 18 November to raise public awareness of the importance of statistics in all areas of social and economic life. The theme chosen is “Supporting education by modernizing the production of fit-for-purpose statistics" which is in alignment with the African Union theme of 2024 “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century" and calls for modernizing data ecosystems in the continent for production and utilization of high-quality official statistics and seize the opportunities of big data.​
