1. The Quarterly Index of Industrial Production shows the evolution of the volume or real output of the Industrial Sector comprising “Mining and quarrying”, “Manufacturing”, “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply” and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities”.
2. In the second quarter of 2019, the overall index of industrial production expanded by 8.2% compared to the previous quarter and by 2.0% when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2018.
3. The performance of the sub-sectors within the industrial sector is as follows:

4. For year ending second quarter 2019, i.e. third quarter 2018 to second quarter 2019, real industrial output grew by 1.5%. This is explained by expansions in “Mining and quarrying” (+3.2%), “Manufacturing” (+0.8%), “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply” (+3.1%) and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities” (+3.4%).
