Change in employment from March 2023 to March 2024
1. Employment in large establishments increased by 312 from 304,307 (179,969 males and 124,338 females) in March 2023 to 304,619 (179,354 males and 125,265 females) in March 2024.
2. Main changes in employment were registered in the following industry groups:

3. Employment in the General Government Sector increased by 260 from 75,899 in March 2023 to 76,159 in March 2024.
4. Employment in large Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) decreased by 2,499 from 34,649 in March 2023 to 32,150 in March 2024.
5. The number of foreign workers decreased by 254 from 26,890 in March 2023 to 26,636 in March 2024.
Change in average earnings from March 2023 to March 2024
Overall average monthly earnings in large establishments increased by 10.9% from Rs 39,206 to Rs 43,488. Highest increases were registered in: 'Information and communication' (+23.3%) and 'Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning' (+20.9%).
Average monthly earnings in large establishments of the EOE sector increased by 16.1% from Rs 25,576 to Rs 29,684.
