Construction​ Price Index - 3rd Quarter 2024

Highlights

 

  1. 1. The C​onstruction Price Index which stood at 137.3 in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 3.0% to reach 141.4 in the third quarter of 2024.​

2. ​During the third quarter of 2024, increases were noted in the following sub-indices: “Labour" (11.5%), “Hire of Plant" (3.2%) and “Materials" (0.5%).​​
 

3. The increase of 0.5% in the “Materials" sub-index is explained by:​
 

      1.  ​       (i) increases in prices of aggregate (1.1%), block (1.1%), premixed mortar (1.4%), steel bars (0.5%) and timber carpentry (4.7%), partly offset by decreases in the prices of hardcore (remplissage) (-1.2%) and electrical installation (-1.3%) in July 2024;​

  2.        (ii) increases in the prices of premixed mortar (1.3%) and plumbing (1.4%), partly offset by a decrease in the prices of tiles and granite (-1.1%) in August 2024; and
     
  3.        (iii) increases in the prices of steel bars (0.2%) and tiles and granite (0.1%), offset by a decrease in the prices of cement (-0.1%) in September 2024.
