Highlights
1. The Quarterly Index of Industrial Production shows the evolution of the volume or real output of the Industrial Sector comprising “Mining and quarrying”, “Manufacturing”, “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply” and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities”.
2. In the first quarter of 2015, the overall index of industrial production decreased by 17.9% compared to the previous quarter and expanded by 2.7% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014.

- In the year ending first quarter 2015, i.e. second quarter 2014 to first quarter 2015 real industrial output went up by 3.2%. This is explained mainly by expansions in the real output of “Manufacturing” (+3.2%), “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply” (+3.9%) and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities” (+2.6%) partly offset by a contraction of 1.4% in the output of “Mining and quarrying”.
