Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE)
2nd Quarter 2015
Export Oriented Enterprise (EOE) consist of enterprises previously operating with an EPZ Certificate as well as enterprises manufacturing goods for exports and holding a registration certificate issued by the Board of Investment.
1. Compared to the first quarter of 2015, total employment in EOE decreased by 230 (-0.4%) from 54,417 to 54,187. Some 724 jobs were lost and 494 new ones created. Employment of Mauritians went up by 97 (+0.3%) from 31,466 to 31,563 while the number of foreign workers decreased by 327 (-1.4%) from 22,951 at the end of March 2015 to 22,624.
2. EOE exports during the second quarter of 2015 amounted to R 13,553 million, 22.6% higher compared to the first quarter of 2015 and 3.5% higher compared to the second quarter of 2014. EOE imports amounted to R 7,185 million, 13.5% higher compared to the previous quarter and 3.4% higher compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014.
