The headline inflation rate for the twelve months ending July 2014 works out to 3.9%, compared to 3.6% for the twelve months ending July 2013. 
 
The year-on-year inflation rate for July 2014, as measured by the change in the CPI for July 2014 relative to July 2013, works out to 3.1%.

Note :
1. The inflation rate is computed by comparing the average level of prices during a twelve-month period with the average level during the preceding twelve-month period.
2. Headline inflation  includes all items that enter into the household consumption .
3. CORE1 excludes "Food, beverages and tobacco" components and mortgage interest on housing loan from headline inflation.
4. CORE2 excludes Food, beverages and tobacco, mortgage interest on housing loan, electricity, gas, other fuels and items whose prices are controlled from headline inflation.
5. TRIM10 truncates 5 per cent of each tail of the distribution of price changes.
