Change in employment from March 2012 to March 2013
 
 
1.    Employment in large establishments increased by 757 from 304,937 (191,374 males and 113,563 females) to 305,694 (192,043 males and 113,651 females).
2.    Main changes in employment were registered in the following industry groups:
 
Public administration and defence; compulsory social security                   +848
Financial and insurance activities                                                          +418
Professional, scientific and technical activities                                         +369
                                                   
Agriculture, forestry and fishing                                                            -804
Construction                                                                                      -602
 
3.    Employment in the General Government Sector increased by 299 from 72,536 (47,065 males and 25,471 females) to 72,835 (46,892 males and 25,943 females).Female employment increased by 472.while male employment decreased by 173.
4.    Employment in large Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) decreased by 132 from 54,324 (22,511 males and 31,813 females) to 54,192 (24,078 males and 30,114 females).
5.    The number of foreign workers increased by 1,999 from 23,477 (14,077 males and 9,400 females) to 25,476 (16,117 males and 9,359 females).

6.    Overall average monthly earnings in large establishments increased by 10.7% from             Rs 21,132 to Rs 23,391. A general upward trend was observed in all industry groups with highest increases in ‘Public administration and defence; compulsory social security’ (20.6%), ‘Human health and social work activities’ (18.5%) and ‘Education’ (16.5%)  due to the salary revision effected in the public sector in January 2013.
7.    Average monthly earnings in the large establishments of the EOE sector increased by 8.1 % from Rs 11,216 to Rs 12,119.
