Highlights
1. The Quarterly Index of Industrial Production shows the evolution of the volume or real output of the Industrial Sector comprising “Mining and quarrying”, “Manufacturing”, “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply” and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities”.
2. In the second quarter of 2017, the overall index of industrial production expanded by 10.5% compared to the previous quarter and by 3.1% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2016.
3. The performance of the sub-sectors within the industrial sector is as follows:

4. There was a net expansion of 1.6% in Industrial output for year ending second quarter 2017, i.e. third quarter 2016 to second quarter 2017. This is explained by increases in “Mining and quarrying” (+1.5%), “Manufacturing” sector (+1.4%), “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply” (+1.9%) and “Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities” (+1.4%).
