Producer Price Index Manufacturing 2nd Quarter 2013

Highlights
 
  1. The monthly PPI-M, which stood at 134.1 in March 2013, registered an increase of 0.2 point (+0.1%) during the second quarter of 2013, reaching 134.3 by June. On a monthly basis, the index gained 0.2 point (+0.1%) in April, 0.1 point (+0.1%) in May and lost 0.1 point (-0.1%) in June 2013.
 2.      The average quarterly PPI-M gained 1.3 points (+1.0%) in the second quarter of 2013, to reach 134.3 from 133.0 in the first quarter of 2013. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of “Food products and beverages” (+1.5%), “Wearing apparel” (+2.3%), “Leather and related products” (+1.8%) and “Rubber and plastic products” (+1.0%).
 3.      Compared to the second quarter of 2012, the average PPI-M for the second quarter of 2013 was up by 7.6 points or 6.0%. This is mainly attributable to higher prices of “Wearing apparel” (+15.0%), “Furniture” (+7.7%), “Food products and beverages” (+7.6%) and “Chemicals and chemical products” (+6.1%).
