The Mauritian economy has undergone major transformations over the years, and is expected to evolve even more in the years to come for the country to meet the objectives of Vision 2030 and to achieve its aspirations of becoming a high income economy. Concurrently, the demand for data and new statistics for planning and progress monitoring will also increase.
In order to address the evolving data needs, Statistics Mauritius, with the technical assistance of the Partnership in Statistics Development in the 21st Century (PARIS 21) of the OECD, in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), is currently preparing a National Strategy for Official Statistics.
The NSOS 2019-23 will set for the next 5 years the framework for strengthening statistical capacity and quality across the entire National Statistical System (NSS), and enhancing cooperation among NSS institutions. Work on the design of NSOS 2019-23 and its implementation will emphasise a participatory approach and will involve producers of official statistics, providers of data, decision makers as well as main users.
